Looking for a luxury piece of furniture to enhance an empty hallway? We selected some console table designs that offer a perfect alternative that is both fashionable and functional. Often the sole piece of furniture in entranceways, hallways and on landing spaces, console tables are designed to make the interior statement.
#1 TEXTURE CONTRAST
Designed for a David Hicks project, a subbed and frosted glass mirrored separation wall is a fittingly glamorous backdrop for a glass console table in the style of the designer Paul Evans. The high-shine design chrome finish subtly contrasts the frosted texture of its wall and vintage Vistosi sconces.
“This is a recent project we have finished – a luxury apartment in Port Melbourne. It looks over the bay and has amazing views of the city as well. We kept the palette minimal and very tranquil to let the views speak for themselves and concentrated on texture.”
#2 MAGNIFICIENT LUXE
The console’s jagged metal base, designed by Natalia Miyar, reminds of stylised stalagmites and is topped with a clean limestone surface. The interior designer pairs the stand-out piece against a subtly geometric wall with a gilded Marc de Berny Kitoko mirror for a visually and texturally tactile vignette.
“The bronze table with limestone top was a carefully considered addition to the scheme, [It] can do the talking as the pyramid cones that support the top give it an artful look and the mirror adds further glamour within the space.”
#3 INNOVATION KEY
Greer Interior Design banks on the versatility of a small console table backing against a sofa in a breezy modern room arrangement. The corrugated finish, cast concrete console, designed by Mr Brown, acts as a bridge between the finish of the grey concrete fireplace and the wooden floor.
“Console tables can be difficult to find as the finish and the size are very important, and must complement the room and the pieces in it perfectly. The design certainly does that. Its rustic textured look blends perfectly with the living room’s folksy flatweave rug, easy fabrics and low-slung furniture.” – Jennifer Greer Hartmann
#4 CURVE APPEAL
The master bedroom of an apartment situated in London gets a feminine makeover in the form of a shapely unique console table addition by Helen Green Design.
“The circularity of the mirror counterbalances the concave cut-outs of the [console’s] base. The shapes and palette of white lacquer and bronze highlights neatly complement the fretwork antique screen adorning either side of the headboard. It is a fresh clean look created using shades of ivory, oozing an archetypal Hollywood glamour.” – Sammi Wickins
